Academic Background

Dr. Wehrli performed his undergraduate studies at Idaho State University in Microbiology, with emphasis in Medical Technology. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University, and obtained his residency training at the nationally renowned Detroit Medical Center-Wayne State University, considered among the country’s elite foot and ankle surgical residency programs. After this, he came to Desert Regional Medical Center’s Institute of Clinical Orthopedics and Neurosciences (ICON) in 2013. Finally, in 2014 Dr. Wehrli began Coachella Valley Foot and Ankle

Who is Dr. Wehrli?

An architect and pioneer of leading techniques and approaches, Dr. Wehrli has built an international reputation for delivering the best possible outcomes in the specialized treatment of foot and ankle. His unparalleled clinical and surgical experience – and level of service – includes the latest treatments for ankle replacement surgery, minimally invasive procedures and ankle arthroscopic surgery.

His expertise in minimally invasive sports-medicine procedures – specifically, the arthroscopic Brostrom-Gould procedure – has proven revolutionary for athletes. Our doctor is also a consultant with major orthopedic companies such as Stryker, Trilliant Surgical and Segway Orthopedics.

Dr. Wehrli played major-college baseball on scholarship at BYU and Idaho, after lettering in wrestling, baseball and football during a star high-school career that earned him “U.S. Marine Corp Athlete of the Year” his senior season. Today, sports – and the care and healing of athletes – remain a love he has never lost.
